? - but pretty!
Decided to let the girls relax a little bit this morning and work on their journals, so we just hung around our campsite. And a lovely campsite it was, at McKinney Falls State Park. To Maya's delight, there were lots of purple flowers all around.

After a while we went to look at the Falls, and perhaps go for a swim, but it was a bit too cold and, actually, a bit too depressing. There had recently been rains, and all kinds of plastic garbage had come down the river from Austin. Gotta love those plastic bottles -- everyone use your Siggs! I asked a ranger about clean up days and she said there was going to be one in a few weeks.
We took off on some back roads toward Houston, and what a lovely, lovely surprise! Fields of gorgeous wildflowers everywhere, including Texas bluebonnets.

Didn't get a hold of a friend in Houston, so we decided to just head on out to Louisiana. Instead of going to New Orleans, we headed down some two-lane roads through New Iberia and other small towns. Fun to see, and we were tempted to stop by a crawdad hut or two, but it the sun was starting to go down and we wanted to get to Houma. Once in Houma, we stopped by Rick's Cajun Cafe and ate one of the most deep fried dinners ever -- deep fried crawdads (tasty, but I'd prefer boiled next time, and Juju didn't like them at all), deep fried onions rings and deep fried fries. Yikes.
Being RV-less, no luck camping nearby, so we hit the inn. Sponge Bob, here we come.
